Sophie
was born in Taos and grew up in Denver. She and her husband,
a retired colonel in the Air Force, retired to Taos in 1972.
She had wanted to retire to Vancouver, and he preferred Taos.
They tossed a coin, and she lost. She’s celebrated that
loss ever since.
Sophie has three children. One is a retired pilot and stock
broker in Taos, another is a caterer in Albuquerque, and the
third is a builder in California. Sophie has 5 grandchildren.
She has traveled the world, visiting such exotic locales as
Africa, England, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, the country of
her family’s roots.
Sophie has been and continues to be active in numerous organizations,
including Kiwanis, Optimists Club, Opera Guild, Amigos Unidos,
Las Amigas de Nuevo Mejico, Fall Arts Festival Committee, and
Holy Cross Hospital Foundation. Sophie also loves to be involved
in local politics.
Sophie believes Holy Cross Hospital is one of the best hospitals
in the country. She loves the people of Holy Cross Hospital
and the wonderful members of Holy Cross Hospital Foundation.
