Perfect Health Campaign to upgrade Holy
Cross Hospital’s Radiology Department. The
Picture Perfect Health Project includes upgrading the hospital’s
communications system, digitizing all imaging in Radiology,
and purchasing new digital mammography and fluoroscope equipment.
By the end of 2009, this new system will be installed at a cost
of over $1,500,000. The Foundation’s goal is to raise
$360,000 to support this project.

Doctors
use mammograms, x-rays of broken bones, MRIs, scans of internal
organs, and other radiology exams to diagnose and to treat
patients. Last year, Holy Cross’s Radiology Department
produced over 32,000 radiology exams.
Clear,
high quality, high-resolution images help doctors provide
quality treatment. Digital images help doctors and patients
easily transport radiology images, thus making it simple to
share information with and consult with other health care
providers.

The goal
is to upgrade all radiology equipment to produce digital images.
Digital images will provide clear, high quality, high resolution
images. This system will give patients and doctors immediate
access to images by eliminating film developing time and will
cut examination time for patients in half and reduce examination
wait time. In addition, this system will eliminate cumbersome
storage problems (current x-ray films require huge storage
rooms).
Finally,
the new system will allow easy transport and storage of images
with information technology. They can be sent via the Internet
anywhere in the world and can be permanently stored on CDs
or other data storage devices. Donation

Kids
in Need Fund This fund is used to provide
medical care and equipment to children who have no other means
of gaining it. We focus on children eligible for a public assistance
program (e.g. Medicaid, Children Medical Services, SSI), but
the program(s) will not pay for the medical care or equipment
requested. The medical care or equipment must be essential to
the well-being or quality of life of the child.
Recent
gifts include bath chairs, shower chairs, night splints, an
othotics assessment, and a ramp for a handicapped young man.

Form. We are seeking donations to fund this essential
work.
Scholarship
Administration
Holy Cross Hospital Foundation administers the dozens of scholarships
given each year by Holy Cross Hospital. The Foundation distributes
application forms and information to Taos County high schools,
gathers applications, reviews the applications with Holy Cross
Hospital board members, and writes the checks for scholarships.
These scholarships are open to graduating seniors and college
students who have attained a status of at least junior. Check
this page for downloadable application forms beginning January
2008. Applications will be due at the end of March.
