Born
and raised in Taos County, LeRoy Phillippi has lived here almost
all his life. LeRoy holds college degrees from College of San
Mateo in California and Idaho State University. He also did
extensive post-graduate work at New Mexico Highlands University.
LeRoy served in the United States Army during the Korean War,
as an educator with Taos Municipal Schools, as a Manpower Counselor,
and as Executive Director for several anti-poverty community
action programs. He also serves on the board of the Taos County
Housing Authority and on the Taos-Colfax Community Corrections
Board. Finally, LeRoy has been active in the Optimist Club for
over 30 years.
LeRoy has a partial Hispanic background and speaks fluent Spanish.
He also has extensive background working with Native American
populations. He has been married for over 46 years, has 5 children,
and 16 grandchildren.
LeRoy joined the Board of Holy Cross Hospital Foundation in
1999. He has served as president, past president, and other
officer positions. He believes in doing everything he can to
make Taos and Holy Cross Hospital the best it can be for all.
